ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass, two SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements and three aspherical lenses provide excellent correction of all types of aberrations. Superior optical performance is ensured throughout the entire zoom range. This lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), ensuring a quiet and high speed AF as well as full time manual focusing capability. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 38cm/15in and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.3. The rounded 9 blades diaphragm creates an attractive blur. It is possible to attach the included petal-type hood to block out extraneous light.

Sigma 24-70 vs the Canon 24-70
Descent…Great for the price. Decent lens.1. This lens is not tack sharp…the Nikon is sharper. The average person won’t notice, but if you are like me, that three pixel difference will chap your hide. That being said, if you do not have a high end client base, you are just beginning, or being razor sharp is not a requirement…this lens will do.2. The bayonet lens hood does not lock into place well and will eventually start to twist off when gently bumped. This means if you are in a fast environment you may not notice that it twisted and you will have the the long edge of the bayonet on the side instead of the top and the photo most likely be ruined (this has happened to me enough times that I do periodic checks of the bayonet to make sure it is fastened correctly).3. The auto-focus switch on the side has loosened up. I will wear a single on double harness when I shoot events and so my cameras are prone to bump against me. What i have found is that now I HAVE to make…
Love my newest addition! Think I’m addicted to Sigma glass!
