PERFECT for portraits! I have Canon 650D camera and just had kit lens 18-55mm but I wanted something more. I have a daughter and she is my main model and also I work as part time family portrait photographer so I needed portrait lens but not very expensive ones.And this lens are PERFECT for portraits!!! Using AV mode and setting AV on 1.8 (maximum opening of diaphragm) the camera does the rest of work – it sets timing on minimum so you can get sharp image on the object you focus on (great for having photos of kids that are always moving, running away:) ) AND you minimise the depth and get a nice blur of background. The moment I took my first picture when this lens … The moment I took my first picture when this lens I was mind blown. I’m a big fan of blurred background shots and this lens does the trick. The accessories are a bonus. Definitely worth.
Love the lens Love the lens…HOWEVER…the accessories that come with the lens are not as described. It says that it comes with a 49 mm lens hood – WRONG – it comes with a 58 mm lens hood with an ‘adaptor’ that makes it fit the 49 mm lens. The problem with that is once the adapter is on, the lens cap no longer fits the camera. So, if you have the hood on (with the adaptor), you can’t get the lens cap on. In order to get the cap back on the lens, you must remove not only the hood, but also the adaptor. A lot of hassle if you ask me! You run into the same issue with the 3 piece filter set…it came as a 58 mm and not the 49 mm advertised set. Very unhappy and feel I was mislead from what was advertised and what was actually received. Will not be purchasing anything else from this seller!
