Extremely Pleasant Surprise! I’m Delighted! I am a long time full time photographer. I don’t compromise on lens quality.My experience has indicatedt that the Nikon f2.8 AF-S zooms have always been the cream of the crop. I ordered this lens largely to shoot personal work, and as a “walking around” one lens solution.Speaking as Nikon shooter since the mid-1970’s, I have never been so pleasantly surprised as I was over the performance of this 24-120/f4, and I own and have owed over 50 of the higher end Nikon lenses.My primary “working” mid-range zoom has been the Nikon 24-70/f2.8 since it first became available. My backup for that ha been my 28-70/f2.8.Now, my primary working mid-range zoom is this one, and my 24-70/f2.8 is my backup. That’s how much I like this lens.Also, I’ve never been a huge proponent of VR lenses, but the VR in the 24-120/f4 works so well that it’s actually very useful, unlike other VR lenses that I own or have owned.I’m…
My new go-to lens! Where do I begin?! LOVE this lens! As a professional photographer, I am always looking for a versatile lens with great quality at a good price. Very hard to come by. For the past couple years I was heavily using the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8, but I wanted something with more range. I shoot indoor and outdoor lifestyle sessions in natural lighting, as well as birth photography, so I needed something wide, sharp, fast and could handle unique lighting situations and this lens does all of that for me for a great price! I also shoot a lot of families with active children so it’s nice to be able to go from a wide angle family shot and quickly zoom in to the child’s face for an individual shot without even moving and missing my shot. It’s quite heavy on my Nikon D750, but you get used to it. It’s not very loud and it finds focus quite fast. I micro-adjusted this lens and it’s almost as tack sharp as any of my primes which says a lot for a wide range zoom. Great build, solid and smooth focus rings…
